Founded in 2015, Academic Authors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses donations to offer free support for scholars whose voices need to be heard.

All peer-reviewed journals and university presses would like to publish a wider array of voices. This isn't just about getting people published. It is about bringing essential voices to the table who will only be heard if they are published in specific venues such as first-tier, peer-reviewed academic journals and university presses. Academic Authors supports the work of Rising Scholars in Oxford, UK, and Jesuit Worldwide Learning in Geneva, Switzerland, among other groups.

If you are a postdoctoral scholar would like to work with Academic Authors at no charge, then please register for mentoring through Rising Scholars, www.risingscholars.net. You may request to work with Dr. Carole Sargent through their system, and she will receive your request personally. Through Rising Scholars she has worked with individuals, groups, institutions, and also academic journals and book publishers.

Timeline:
 

• In 2025, Academic Authors expanded its mission to find stable housing in Washington, DC for displaced scholars from war-torn regions. It has found low- or no-cost housing for postdoctoral, doctoral, and master's degree candidates whose educations are at risk.

 

• In 2023, Academic Authors launched a 10-year program to work with global Catholic sisters on scholarly publications, at no charge.

 

• In 2022, Academic Authors expanded its mission to include the Beehive Interfaith House in Washington, DC.
